The new Dubfire's documentary film called Above Ground Level is out.
The 77-minute film includes interviews of Richie Hawtin, Pete Tong,Loco Dice, Sven Vath, Seth Troxler & more.
The Film is featuring the life and career of the Iranian-born DJ, aka Ali Shirazinia. Check Dubfire's trailer description of the film :
As one-half of the Grammy award-winning duo “Deep Dish”,
Iranian-American Ali Shirazinia (aka‘Dubfire’) has established himself
as one of the world’s most successful DJs and producers. But the road to
success was not an easy one.
Ali’s story begins in Iran where his
happy childhood took an abrupt detour when the country was thrown into
turmoil by the 1979 Iranian Revolution and subsequent Iran-Iraq War. His
family left Iran soon after the Revolution, relocating to the United
States where Dubfire acclimated to his new country and soon found a
passion in music.
We follow the genesis of Ali’s musical career from
performing in local clubs in Washington, D.C to later becoming one of
the most influential music producers and DJs working today.
With candid interviews from family, childhood friends, industry peers,
and fellow artists, this film takes an intimate and honest look inside
the nuanced world of dance music.
This is an aspirational story about
pursuing your passion, daring to dream big, and the challenges that come
with success. It is an insider’s look at what its like to be an
electronic music artist from Above Ground Level.

"Yesterday I was an eyewitness to the senseless terrorist attack on innocent victims along Las Ramblas in the beautiful city of Barcelona which I love very much. I am still in shock and trying to process what I saw. Sadly these kinds of attacks have become a “new normal” in our society.
That being said, we cannot allow these cowardly acts of violence to disrupt our daily lives, stripping away our freedoms, because that is precisely what their goal is. Therefore, after careful consideration and discussion with my friends, colleagues and internal team, I have decided NOT to cancel my gig tonight -
TLO Boat Club pres. DUBFIRE + PØLI in Barcelona.
We WILL NOT give into fear but will unite through music and the
celebration of friendship. I will also be donating my entire fee to a
charity that will care for the victims and relatives of this tragedy. I
hope that it helps in some way."

Dubfire + Miss Kittin’s 'Ride' gets the remix treatment.
Solomun, Audion, Djedjotronic + Depeche Mode’s Vince Clarke provide reworks.
Dubfire and Miss Kittin have scored another big hit in the form of their second collaboration Ride, the follow-up to the much-loved anthem Exit. Now, many destroyed dancefloors later and they’re unleashing a big pack of remixes to sit alongside their two original versions.
Solomun may best known for big melodies and hooks, but his remix boldly displays his affinity for heads down techno. A beast of a track, it centers around ticking percussion and pulsating synth delays with a throbbing low end. Minimal in approach, maximal in aesthetic, it’s a no-nonsense groove. Matthew Dear dons his Audion guise to remind us how instrumental he was in formulating that oddball techno sound a decade ago, making good use of the vocals in the heady breakdowns and matching them with unsettlingly wavering synth sirens and an almost tribal bass stomp. It’s full of atmospheric touches and pulls off a big room feel without resorting to cliches.
Depeche Mode, Erasure and Yazoo legend Vince Clarke is a personal hero of Dubfire’s, making his appearance on this package all the more of a special, rare treat. His chunky house groove is decked out with rolling congas, electro arpeggios and a yearning, bluesy guitar lick. French star Djedjotronic has himself remixed Depeche Mode, and his version rounds off the package with throbbing low end, harrowing synths, techy percussion and brooding Reese bass swells.
With four very different mixes to choose from, this is an immense package that is set to cause havoc on dancefloors worldwide for some time to come.

'Retrospectivo' contains each of their original releases, com- plemented by a host of exceptional remixes from other key figures in the scene. The CDs were preceded by warmly welcomed new reissues of Terra and Fuego, stretching out over a luxurious 2+ hours of prime techno. 'Diablo' kicks things off, sounding as fresh as the day it was unleashed in 2008, and is accompanied by the Carlo Lio remix that pushes its muscular driving vibe into a new territory. Dios also appears with the rework from Jon Gaiser, via his Atheists Anonymous Remix, crystallizing the original’s 10 minute form into a taut, powerful six minutes of dance floor gold. The new track 'Humano' appears here in four glorious versions from the original via newer interpretations from Hatzler, SHADED’s Summer Skin Remix and the Victor Ruiz mix.
Kicking off CD2, 'Fuego' burns as brightly as ever with additional heat added by Julian Jeweil’s masterful remix, while 'Terra' gets the treatment by the ever dependable Joseph Capriati. Three different mixes each of 'Aire' and 'Agua' complete the package, with the combined talents of Matador, Peter Dundov and Detroit’s own Carl Craig rounding off the compilation in particu- larly fine style.
Both Dubfire and Oliver Huntemann have pursued their own paths that have seen them reach dizzying heights within the techno world, but these recordings and their expertly curated reworks will remain a benchmark for many.
As a special bonus, both the digital version and the Double-CD (via a download code) include an hour-long 'Retrospectivo'-mix by Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann.
